Company Profile » History

Strand Freight Ltd was founded in August 2001 by Dorel and Marcela Tise in Saxmundham, England under the initial name of ‘Strand Trade Ltd’. The company activity consisted of small but frequent furniture transports from Romania to United Kingdom as well as some export activity.

In 2002 and 2003 there was a fast increase in the number of transports from Romania to UK and back. Increases in workload brought about many changes in the company. As a result, in August 2003 the company name changed to Strand Freight Ltd to reflect its activity better.

Due to workforce expansion and the need to be in a more central location in 2005, the company moved into its new offices in Ransomes Europark, Ipswich. Being only 10 miles away from Felixstowe, one of Britain’s largest freight harbours and minutes away from A14, Strand Freight is now strategically positioned for easy access from anywhere in the UK or Europe.

While the main activity at this point consisted of furniture transports, aluminium, tyres, ADR goods, and machinery, in 2006 as the activity with Romania kept increasing, new out-of-gauge cargo loads were introduced as an important part of the services on offer.

The year 2007 has been one of the most prosperous years for Strand Freight as besides the strengthened link with Romania, we started concentrating on offering frequent transports from Italy to UK and UK to Germany.

2008, 2009 and 2010 have been very good years of business for Strand Freight, as they continue to provide its customers with the same excellent service, customer satisfaction and competitive prices, in what has been one of the most challenging commercial climates of the century.
